गुजरात तट पर जून में 25 साल बाद किसी गंभीर चक्रवाती तूफान ने दस्तक दी है. भारत मौसम विज्ञान विभाग (IMD) के मुताबिक साइक्लोन बिपरजॉय (Cyclone Biparjoy) 1965 के बाद से अरब सागर में बनने वाला केवल तीसरा ‘अत्यंत गंभीर’ चक्रवात है. आईएमडी ने कहा कि गुजरात तट को पार करने वाला बिपरजॉय ‘गंभीर’ श्रेणी (48 – 63 किमी. प्रति घंटा की हवा की गति) का पांचवां चक्रवात होगा. इस तरह देखा जाए तो बिपरजॉय पिछले 58 साल में जून में अरब सागर में उठने वाला एकमात्र तीसरा ‘अत्यंत गंभीर’ चक्रवात है. आईएमडी के मुताबिक ‘बेहद गंभीर’ चक्रवात बिपरजॉय के गुजरात के सौराष्ट्र-कच्छ और पाकिस्तान के कराची के बीच गुरुवार दोपहर के करीब तट को पार करने की उम्मीद है.
After 25 years, a severe cyclonic storm hit the Gujarat coast in June. According to the India Meteorological Department, Cyclone Biperjoy is only the third ‘extremely severe’ cyclone to form in the Arabian Sea since 1965. The IMD said that Biparjoy will be the fifth cyclone of the ‘severe’ category (wind speed of 48 – 63 km per hour) to cross the Gujarat coast. In this way, Biparjoy is the only third ‘extremely severe’ cyclone to arise in the Arabian Sea in the last 58 years.
